TO ALL OUR DEAR FRIENDS IN JESUS AND MARY
Margret and Peter Clores have three children and the oldest Michael
has just been
diagnosed with Leukemia.
Peggy works for our agency and had to stop working for a while to care
for her son Michael. Michael is 16 years old and loves school, basketball
and nintendo, (but i have been beating him in nintendo so far). Currently
he is a sophomore at Chaminade High School and has had to stop school in order
to undergo treatment for his Leukemia.
The
Clores family
has
informed us that there is a positive outlook with Michael's Leukemia. Over
the year Michael and his family will have to undergo many long and difficult
days at the hospital. The Michael & the Clores family need our prayers
and support. If you would like to get involved you can DONATE
BLOOD (Michael
is O+), make a DINNER
or help out with operation "PHONE
HOME".
This is a group of people who will be chipping in once a month for a cellphone
for Michael. For more information on getting involved please call
516 576-3206
and ask for Mike or Dale. We will provide you with all the information
on the above. See below Peggy's letter
As a mother, I am trying to come up with all of the ways in which my teenage son can best cope with his illness. Expenses are very tight right now and many people are asking what they can do. Providing Michael with his own cell phone during this first of three years of chemotherapy would be a wonderful gift to Michael and our family. The first year is the hardest physically in terms of the intensity and frequency of treatment and the many physical and emotional changes he will be facing. Much of my time, and his, will be spent at the cancer center and on the road. Our other two boys will be spending time with different families to enable me to take care of Michael. Providing Michael with his own cell phone would accomplish the following:
1) During the time we are in the treatment center, friends and family could call in to keep his spirits going especially when he feels the worst and is not able to do the normal things he would be doing on any given day. It would help him to stay connected.
2)The doctors will be allowing him to do limited things with his friends but there are times that we will be hesitant to allow him to do this if he can't get into immediate contact with us if he is in trouble. We want to increase his freedom while keeping him safe.
3)Every single day, our family is going to be split in many directions and during the times I am with Michael in the cancer center or anywhere else, the different families who are caring for my children can be in touch with me, or I with them ,in an increased capacity. It would enable Michael and I to stay in touch with his father and brothers during the many times we now will not be together. (With all of this commotion, my own cell phone minutes are being used up overnight. This would give a little surplus to the usage limits on my own phone during the times Michael and I are together and isolated from all those we love.)
Your assistance during the difficult days that lie ahead would be wonderful. Thankyou, from the bottom of this mother's heart for anything you can do that would better enable Michael and our family to deal with this challenge. Peggy Clores
